The challenge
What was going on
In a production environment with eight departments, from forge to transport, visibility was lost. Where an order actually was, and whether it was on schedule, was hard to tell.
Paper work orders and disconnected systems caused errors, double work and calls between departments.
Our approach
How we tackled it
We brought every step of the production process into one system that moves with the shop floor in realtime.
Map the process
Every department, handover and status step captured the way it really works on the floor.
Realtime backbone
Websockets keep every order's status live and in sync everywhere, no refresh needed.
Connect to the ERP
Connected to the existing ERP, so order details keep one source.
Paper goes digital
Work orders and stickers generated and printed automatically where needed.
Step by step
From the old way of working to the new
- Step
Order status
BeforeWhere an order was, and whether it was on schedule, was hard to tell.
NowEvery order can be followed live across all eight departments, from forge to transport.
- Step
Work orders
BeforeWork orders travelled through production on paper.
NowPDF work orders and stickers are generated automatically per order and step.
- Step
Coordination
BeforeDepartments called each other to find out where things stood.
NowProduction, planning and transport work from the same realtime picture.
- Step
Order data
BeforeDisconnected systems caused double work and errors.
NowConnected to the existing ERP, with no double entry.
What we built
The system
Realtime order status
A live view of every order across all eight departments.
Digital work orders
Work orders as PDF, generated automatically per order and step.
Sticker printing
Automated labelling so products stay identifiable through the chain.
ERP integration
A live link to the existing ERP, with no double entry.
Process ERP changes while preserving shop-floor progress
The integration fetches changes, processes the full order and determines the departments involved. Route changes preserve work already completed. An administrative update must not erase shop-floor progress.
A dedicated view for each department
Forging, painting, assembly, service, transport and dispatch use department-specific screens. Work orders, treatments, colours and labels support each production step, keeping the interface relevant to the people doing the work.
From production to transport
Transport planning, routes and resources extend the order overview. Production stays connected to the delivery stage, while the archive keeps completed orders and their details available.
The outcome
Where it stands
Production, planning and transport now work from the same realtime picture. Where an order is and what is next is the same for everyone.
Manual paperwork and handover errors have largely been taken out of the process.
Control over production starts with seeing what is happening. This system makes the whole floor readable at a glance.
